Purple coneflower
(Echinacea purpurea)

An uncommon prairie wildflower which is getting more frequent, due to its being included among native flower plantings. Bright pink-purple petals and red-orange disc make identification easy. Leaves of wavyleaf purple coneflower, E. simulata, are thinner and strap-like. It's thin petals droop more. MC (Asteraceae)
