Wavyleaf purple coneflower
(Echinacea simulata)

aka pale purple coneflower. Some sources list this as E. pallida, but recent work has separated these two species on the basis of chromosome numbers. E. pallida is not known from our area. This common roadside coneflower is positively identified by its yellow, not white, pollen. Drooping petals are narrow, fading with age from lavender to white. Stems are hairy, leaves are narrow. MC (Asteraceae)
