Compass plant
(Silphium laciniatum)

This prairie plant is rare in our area. Standing to twelve feet tall, it is easily identified by its deeply lobed leaves. Unlike the similar prairie dock, flowers of this species extend the length of the stem. MC (Asteraceae)
