Winged sumac
(Rhus copallina)

The smaller of our two common sumac species, this plant is readily identified by the narrow green leafy wings along the leaf stems. Fruits fall in clusters, as opposed to the upright seed stalks found in R. glabra. Both species form large clusters of woody stalks along old field edges if left unchecked. MC (Anacardiaceae)
