Pennsylvania smartweed
(Persicaria pensylvanica)

Formerly Polygonum pennsylvanicum. Like all family members, this species has swollen nodes. Members of the genus Polygonum have a sheath at each node...look for fringes on the sheath to help identify individual species. This common plant has no fringes on the sheaths. Individuals can grow to four feet high. MC (Polygonaceae)
