Pale smartweed
(Persicaria lapathifolia)

Formerly Polygonum lapathifolium. aka dock-leaved smartweed. One of dozens of species in the genus, this plant stands to six feet tall. It is found in wetlands and in river valley habitat. Sheathing leaf bases are not fringed, separating it from a number of similar species. Flowers are usually greenish white, sometimes pink. MC (Polygonaceae)
