Black Maple
(Acer nigrum)

A tall tree, very similar to sugar maple, with which it may hybridize. Leaves of this species tend to droop at the edges and they have three lobes, vs. the five on sugar maples. Uncommon in our area, but plentiful in eastern Kentucky. MC (Aceraceae)
