Panicled hawkweed

Small yellow composite flowers are frequently found closed. This common species is distinguished from H. gronovii by its flower arrangement; here the flowers are on branched stalks, perpendicular to the main stem. Smooth, narrow, leaves continue all the way up the stem, getting smaller nearer the top. (Asteraceae)
