Northern hackberry
(Celtis occidentalis)

A common tree of field edges, easily distinguished by the bumpy, grey bark. Leaf bases are asymmetrical, as is typical of all elm family members. Leaves are toothed, unlike those of southern hackberry, Celtis laevigata. Grows to eighty feet. MC (Ulmaceae)
