Resurrection fern
(Pleopeltis polypodioides)
A once-cut fern which lives on trees and rocks, but not on soil; it is the only epiphytic vascular plant in Kentucky. It resembles rockcap fern, Polypodium virginianum, but fronds of this species are grey and scaly underneath. This species is named due to its habit of "dying" during dry times and appearing to come back to life once rains return. MC (Polypodiaceae)
