Elderberry

aka common elder. A common colonial shrub of open fields, standing to eight feet tall. Compound leaves have five to eleven leaflets; stems and pith are soft and easily broken. White, flat-topped inflorescences ripen into clusters of purple berries. MC (Caprifoliaceae)
