Royal catchfly
(Silene regia)

A prairie species, endangered in Kentucky, known locally from one small patch in Hart County. This June-flowering plant is much taller than the spring-flowering S. virginica. Stemless leaves are opposite and triangular. (Caryophyllaceae)
