Smooth goldenrod
(Solidago gigantea)

aka great goldenrod; late goldenrod. This is our other common, seven-foot Solidago, along with S. canadensis. This plant is characterized by smooth leaves and purplish, often waxy, stems. Leaves have three main veins. Prefers wet woods and meadows. MC (Asteraceae)
